model buildersTowards a highly automated and cloud native modelling workflow

Traditionally, building a model schematisation is a largely manual process, carried out on the local computer of the modeller. However, the volume and velocity of input data increases rapidly, anthropogenic changes to the environment are frequent and the environmental challenges are global. Therefore, we should be able to build model schematisations all around the world, update them frequently to incorporate environmental changes, and utilize the available data to do so.

To enable this, we should transition from a manual, local modelling workflow to a workflow which is highly automated and cloud native. This transition involves all components of the modelling workflow: 1) the data required to setup the models, 2) the generation of the model schematisation, 3) the processing of boundary conditions, 4) running the model and 5) post-processing of the model results. During this session, we will pitch several ideas related to Data as a Service, Boundary Conditions as a Service and Model as a Service which jointly support and push this transition towards automation and cloud nativity of our modelling workflows.

Met de DigiShape use case Markermeer-IJmeer willen we door het combineren van data en het gebruiken van innovatieve data science en bewerkingstechnieken een completer beeld krijgen van het doorzicht in het Markermeer en IJmeer.
