Share and reuse data, models and tools
DigiShape’s Open Source Community project brings together companies, knowledge institutions and governments to share and reuse data, models and tools. The project is led by partners such as Witteveen+Bos, Van Oord and Deltares and facilitates an open platform for collaboration within the water sector. The focus is on making data and software accessible, so that innovative solutions become widely applicable.
From data to impact
Many organizations struggle with the long-term and public archiving of data and tools. In addition, the necessary metadata to make it findable and citable is often lacking. DigiShape’s Open Source platform addresses these challenges by:
- The use of Zenodo, an open repository where users can upload and share research results, such as datasets and tools.
- Assigning a unique DOI (Digital Object Identifier) to uploaded datasets, which ensures continued accessibility and citability.
- Organizing and making datasets accessible through tagging within the Zenodo DigiShape community.
This approach not only encourages a culture of openness and innovation, but also provides an infrastructure that facilitates collaboration and supports sustainable solutions to complex water-related issues.
Current state of affairs
The first steps have been taken to realize a fully-fledged DigiShape Open Source Community. The first datasets, models and tools have been made available via Zenodo. The tagging within the DigiShape community helps users to find relevant resources quickly. In addition, work is being done on expanding with other open repositories, so that the platform will become even more complete in the future.
Building an open future together
The ambition of this project is to create a robust platform where data and tools can be easily shared and reused. By offering a metadata editor, API functionalities and courses on topics such as data integration and digital twins, DigiShape is building a future in which knowledge is widely accessible.
Join us and help to fully harness the power of digitalization in the water sector. Upload your datasets and tools to Zenodo and tag them as part of the DigiShape community. Together we make a difference!
